Last year, I realized how important my morning routine was. It affects my day when it comes to my energy, my productivity, and my mood. I started experimenting with different morning routines to figure out what works and what doesn’t, and I have been consistent with my current routine long enough for me to call it a routine.
I made some changes now that I work remotely, and I want to share them with you.
Schedule
| Time | Activity |
|---|---|
| 5:15 | Wake up/Make my bed |
| 5:30 | Bible Intake/Prayer Jornal |
| 5:45 | Walk |
| 6:30 | Shower/Get ready |
| 6:45 | Stretch |
| 6:55 | Plan the day/Work |
I follow that schedule every weekday with some modifications when I work from home and during the weekend.
I get to my work desk at 6:50-6:55 so I get a few minutes to plan before the workday officially starts. I still use Google Calendar to plan my weeks and keep track of events. I stopped using Todoist and I use the life app for recurring tasks that are not time sensitive. I take a few minutes to review those two apps every day to get an idea of what needs to be done and remind myself of any commitments.
Waking up consistently gives structure to my day and helps me waste less time the night before because I know I have to wake up early. It also provides me with extra time so that I don’t feel the need to rush in the morning.
Ever since I read the book “Make Your Bed”, I have tried to make my bed every day. It gives me this adrenaline boost from a little achievement which motivates me to complete more of my tasks.
I like to have some time to spend in God’s word before I face the day. It renews my soul, strengthens my spirit, and helps me remember who I am, whose I am, why I am.
I used to work out before work, but I have found that I often snooze and wake up with just enough time to go to work. I recently switched to working from home, so I now start my days with a walk, and I go to the gym after work which I have found helps me to be more consistent in getting my steps and my training done.
