In this post, I summarize the lessons on networking from the freeway guide: Effective Networking by David Nour.
You need to understand that effective networking can make a difference in your personal and professional.
As with everything, your mindset is invaluable. If you see networking as one more thing you have to do, you’ll likely do it with a poor attitude and you’ll get subpar results. If you want to make the most out of networking, spend some time understanding just how much impact networking can have.
You need to understand that when you become truly interested in others is when you begin what you want from networking.
We have all been in a relationship where the other person seems to only remember our contact information when they are in need. You don’t want to be that person. Your network is an important asset, and those relationships should be treated with care. Consider how you can bring value to your network. Invest in those people and build a positive balance in your relationship with them.
Learn how to connect to the right people.
- Figure out who could help you take the next step in your business or career.

You need something against which to measure your progress and how you’ll get there.
