I have been to at least 10 interviews in the past six years, and I have learned a lot. This post is about the questions you should ask during your interview. I reckon they might not all be applicable depending on the job you’re applying for. I have compiled this list to help me find the best fit for my needs, but I hope it can be of some use to you despise the industry specifics. There are five main categories of questions, I like to ask during interviews:
1. Specifics of the Position
It’s always good to know what you’re getting into. While the job description provides you with some information about the position you’re interviewing for. I would advise you ask some questions in this category to understand the needs and expectations of the company better. This not only helps you see whether this is what you’re looking for, it also gives you a better idea on how you can market yourself during the interview.
2. Advancement and Opportunities
The questions in this category help you figure if the company is interested in growing its employees and whether it will invest in your future.
3. Culture and Well Being
I recently learned how important it is to understand the company culture as much as possible before accepting an offer. This might be the place you build your career so consider whether or not it is a good match.
4. Personal Questions
I like to ask the interviewers questions about their personal experience with the company. It gives me an insight into this potential supervisor/co-worker’s character as well as their feelings about the company.
5. End of Interview Questions
I use the end of interviews to figure out the rest of the process and get an idea on how to schedule other interviews if I have applied to multiple firms.
