I have been working at my job for over a year now, and I have to say I’m finding it more and more difficult to wake up in the morning. I’m feeling unmotivated and the days are getting longer and longer every week.
Be a Thermostat
This one relates to whether or not we let our environment affect our energy.
Thermometer Vs Thermostat
You can either be a thermometer or a thermostat. A thermometer is made to pick up on the temperature and communicate that reading while a thermostat sets the temperature and affects the room. We can either reflect the energy of the place we’re in or bring the energy with us into our space.
Find Your Purpose
If you find yourself motivated, then you might just be lacking purpose. Maybe you forgot why you’re even waking up to do this work. Remind yourself why you started and keep it in your mind. Why do you do your work? What would happen if you stopped? These kinds of questions help you find the value in what you do which can be the motivation you need to move forward.
Look Forward
Think of the results you want. I’ve used work as an example because it’s one of the things I struggle with. Another example is a healthy lifestyle. Think of the body you will have three months from now or the strength you’ll build in a year if you keep at it today. Visualize what you want.
Shorten Your To-Do List
I feel like a failure whenever I check my to-do list at the end of the day, and I have plenty of unaccomplished tasks. Sometimes, that single day is enough to mess up my whole week. Recently, I started expecting this. I tend to overload my To-Do List, so I started giving myself a cut-off. Depending on the day, I tell myself that I can only put up to five tasks on it. If I feel motivated to do more, I work on some of my tasks for tomorrow, but I no longer feel like I failed myself at the end of the day.
